Storms Down Power Lines, Trees, Leaving Thousands Without Power

Winds in excess of 60 mph downed trees and power lines during last night’s storms, and knocked out power to more than 20,000 homes in the metro area.As of 5:30am, LG&E and KU report that about 7,000 customers are without power, as crews work to restore electricity.The storms caused some scattered property damage to homes and commercial buildings. Sirens in the metro area sounded three times during a tornado warning for Jefferson county from midnight to 1 am.
