SUP Continues Fight For Breslin

A Louisville group's wish to re-open the Breslin swimming pool with public and private funds faces an uncertain future.300 thousand dollars in bonds has been set aside to build a splash park at Breslin. The Save Urban Pools Coalition wants to use 70 thousand of those dollars to repair the pool.Metro Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh says re-opening Breslin would lead to more repairs and cost more city money down the road, whereas a splash park would require very little maintenance and remain open longer."It's just disappointing that a small group of people continue to believe and work to keep this pool open," she says. "It's very frustrating and it's very disappointing. I can't believe they don't see there are other, more pressing priorities than this."Re-opening Breslin would require approval from Metro Parks. The coalition has raised money to operate the pool and they say it could eventually become self-sustaining.
