Feb 2 State of Affairs Changes in the Americans with Disabilities Act Signed into law in 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act was intended to make the US a more accessible place for people with disabilities. But as its enforcement trickled through the court system, it became clear to many that the ADA didn't cast a wide enough net. Recent changes were an effort to fix that; for example, the ADA now covers episodic illnesses that only flair up and cause impairment occasionally.
