"Take Back The Night" Vigil Is Tuesday At U of L

The annual "Take Back the Night" vigil will be held this week at the University of Louisville to raise awareness of violence against women. This is the 20th year for the event in Louisville. It was created in Europe in the 1970s.Local organizer Sharon Larue says it's been beneficial, but there's more work to be done."We're within national statistics. I don't think there's any more violence here in Louisvillethan other major cities, but it's something people may or may not be aware of, the statistics on it, and we know that one in four women will be affected by violence," Larue said. The "Take Back the Night" vigil and march will be held Tuesday evening on the U of L Belknap campus.
