Talks on Medicaid Budget Continue in Special Session

Kentucky House leaders continue searching for a bipartisan compromise for balancing the state’s Medicaid budget. House Speaker Greg Stumbo says behind the scenes talks with House Minority Leader Jeffrey Hoover are going well, but he's not yet ready to reveal what's being discussed.“We had staff prepare a number of different scenarios that we had discussed yesterday with Jeff Hoover and the other members of the Republican leadership and we went over those, asked them to take a closer look now that we’ve got the numbers on what the various proposals do," he says.Senate Republicans have offered what they call a Roadmap to Responsible Solution that continues to include across-the-board cuts to state agencies, including cuts to education in the second year of the biennium. The special session, now in its third day, is costing taxpayers roughly 64-thousand dollars a day.
