Tandy 'Strongly Considering' Run for Mayor

Metro Council President David Tandy is strongly considering a run for mayor in 2010, now that Mayor Jerry Abramson has announced he won’t seek re-election.Abramson announced Sunday night he’s running for Lt. Governor with incumbent Steve Beshear in 2011.Tandy says he’s not ready to make an announcement about his possible candidacy for Mayor, but is weighing his responsibility to his family, which includes three small children.“Certainly making sure our home life is in order is something of great concern to me, but we’re a family that believes in public service," says Tandy.Tandy’s wife is the regional director for Congressman John Yarmuth’s Louisville office.Former U.S. Senate candidate Greg Fischer announced he’s running for Mayor on the democratic slate. Councilman Jim King is expected to make an announcement later this week.
