Teacher Evaluation Bill Clears House

The Kentucky House has approved legislation establishing a statewide system of teacher evaluation. The bill’s primary sponsor is House Education Committee Chairman Carl Rollins of Midway.“The plan would not be implemented until the 2013-14 school year. But the real significance of the plan is that it would use multiple measures to evaluate teachers and administrators," he says. The bill cleared the House 92-2. Later, the House voted 91-4 to amend the state constitution to assure hunting and fishing rights for Kentuckians. Voters would have ultimate say in amending the constitution, but for now, both bills move to the Senate.
