The Truth about Chemo

What crosses your mind when you hear the word chemotherapy? In the movies and on TV, chemo patients are usually portrayed as gaunt, bald, unable to keep food down, and very sick. Great strides have been made in treating and preventing the side effects that can make the chemo experience so miserable. Even so, studies have shown that some cancer patients fear chemo and its side effects more than they fear their possible mortality from cancer. Monday’s show will look at fears and misperceptions about chemotherapy and how healthcare professionals help patients cope with those fears.
