Things to Know if You're Going to Forecastle

The Forecastle Festival is expecting arecord crowd this weekend. On the presumption that some of the hoped-for 65,000-plus fest-goers have questions, here are some tips for navigating (sorry) the music, art and activism festival at Waterfront Park.First off, gates open at Waterfront Park at 3:45 p.m. today, 1:15 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 p.m. Sunday. You can still get in if you haven't bought tickets. Weekend passes are still available for $180. Single-day passes are $85 on the day of show and for Saturday.  So you can still nab a Sunday ticket for $75, unless you wait until Sunday—then it bumps up $10.If you're still undecided, the line-up ishere; note that Animal Collective has canceled. There are also a couple of extra shows on the Belle of Louisville. Wick-It the Instigator and Eliot Lipp perform tonight. You need separate tickets for it—costs $19 (plus fees). Saturday night, Houndmouth, Night Beds, the Wheeler Brothers (and more) perform on the Belle; it's sold out now.One thing to note: If you have a weekend pass or a VIP day pass, Forecastle will let you do come and go as you please. If you have a regular day pass, you can't gain re-entry.Here are the things you can't bring into Waterfront Park during the festival: Weapons Food and Drink Alcohol Illegal substances of any kind Umbrellas Coolers Lawn chairs Lasers Glow sticks Stickers Silly String Confetti Glitter Spray Paint Pets (Service Dogs will be permitted) Glass Containers and Metal Aerosol Cans, including Sunscreen in Aerosol Cans Scooters or Personal Motorized Vehicles Professional recording equipment Detachable lens camera Audio recording equipment Video recording equipment No unauthorized vendors will be permitted No solicitations, handbills, sampling, give-aways, etc.You can, however, bring a blanket, small backpack or purse, sunblock and/or an empty water bottle/CamelBak.Water stations will be set up for those who aren't into buying bottled water.Speaking of water, Louisville has a small chance of storms Saturday and Sunday (a 20 percent chance, the National Weather Service says late Friday morning). The high temperatures are expected to 84 today, 86 on Saturday and 89 on Sunday. The National Weather Service's forecasts are here. You can park in any legal spot downtown; the Louisville sub-Reddit has a short discussion on the topic. And then there are paid lots and parking garages; and don't forget TARC, too—you can figure out the route most useful to you here.Forecastle has posted a map of the venue here, and the festival has an app that may come in handy for keeping up with the schedule and finding your way around. Also, Forecastle has a list of restaurants/bars/others that have extended hours for the festival, including Bearno's by the Bridge and Against the Grain Brewery.
