The Federal Emergency Management Agency says Louisville residents continue to apply for disaster assistance for uninsured losses from the August 4 flash flood.FEMA spokesman Ron Whittington says damage inspectors are on the ground, responding to requests for help."We've had a total of $4.5 million in disaster aid for about 5,500 residents in Jefferson County. We expect that number to rise as the number of people come to recovery centers and are checked for eligibility," Whittington said.He says disaster recovery centers at 2911 Taylor Boulevard and at the African-American Heritage Center at 1701 Muhammad Ali Boulevard will be open this weekend and beyond, from 8:00am to 6:00pm, for those who need face-to-face assistance.People who plan to visit the centers should first register with FEMA by phone (1-800-621-FEMA and TTY 1-800-462-7585) or online.
