Thousands Expected For Governor's Derby Breakfast

At Kentucky’s Capitol, state workers are making final preparations for the Governor’s Derby Breakfast. This year’s Governor’s Derby Breakfast is expected to draw around 12-thousand hungry people to the Capitol. It’s free and open to the public and will feature the traditional country ham and biscuits, scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese grits, coffee and juice.Jim Stinnet of the Parks Department has worked almost 30 of these events and says it takes about four hours to feed everybody."We have a unique system of alternating the first that’s been cooked is first out. We rotate it out that way, so everybody gets fresh food. We also have a kitchen staff down here that’s cooking food progressively all morning," Stinnet said.Governor and Mrs. Beshear will make an appearance at the breakfast before they and their guests board the Derby Train for the trip to Louisville and the 134th Run for the Roses.
