Thousands Expected For Inauguration Events, Some Tickets Unavailable

Thousands of people are expected to attend activities surrounding Monday's mayoral inauguration in Louisville. The day begins with a breakfast, which will be followed by an interfaith prayer ceremony and the inauguration itself at 11. A parade will follow the swearing-in ceremony and a gala will be held in the evening. All 2,300 tickets to the breakfast have been distributed and all 1,700 gala tickets have been sold.Mayor-elect Greg Fischer's spokesperson Chris Poynter says, as planned, all of the events were paid for with donations."Our goal was to have no public money spent on the inauguration other than the in-kind donations of police doing traffic control and so forth," he says. The Fischer's team collected about $150,000 from individual donors. They were not allowed to accept money from corporations or businesses.Tickets to the breakfast and the gala are no longer available.
