Todd Says UK Moving Forward Despite Challenges

University of Kentucky President Lee Todd says UK has survived a financial 'perfect storm' over the past 18 months, but hasn't lost sight of its goal to become a top 20 institution.

Todd delivered his annual State of the University address this in Lexington."We've endured several rounds of state appropration reductions, we've watched the global financial crisis hammer our endowment and we have been forced to delay capital improvements in our classrooms, our study areas and our laboratories," he said.Todd says despite the setbacks, UK continues to thrive in other areas. He says there were a record 12,000 applications for this fall's freshman class, the freshman class is more diverse than ever, and some important research is being conducted on campus.
