From WFPL's Haley HartThe Louisville Metro Board of Health will hold the first of two community forums Tuesday to discuss the health effects of artificial trans fat.Health department spokesperson Dave Langdon says the forums are the result of a resolution passed by the Louisville Metro Council.“They’ll include presentations on the health consequences of consuming food with artificial trans fat and then we’ll also have a presentation on what other cities have done to protect their citizens and we’re going to be asking people who will be coming to the forums what they think should be done to protect Louisville citizens,”Langdon said.Trans fat is used in some cooking oils and other products to extend shelf life, but have been linked to health problems such as heart disease. The forums will be held Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the health department headquarters on Gray Street.
