Triple-Digit Temperatures Expected Wednesday

The high temperature Wednesday in the Louisville area is expected to approach 100 degrees with a heat index near 110. The National Weather Service says a break in the heat could come this weekend, but the relief won't last long.A cold front is expected to move through the region on Thursday, bringing rain and lower temperatures for the weekend, with highs in the upper 80s.National Weather Service meteorologist Tom Reaugh says the break will be brief, and temperatures will climb back into the lower 90s early next week."Looks like the rest of summer, in other words, the month of August, will remain pretty warm," he says. "It looks like we'll have a hot finish to the summer as well. And then, as we look ahead into the winter months, even, it looks like a warmer-than-normal trend is expected to continue."Reaugh says the heat this summer hasn't set many new records, though July was the 5th hottest month ever recorded in Louisville.
