U-of-L Announces New Autism Center

Although it doesn’t yet have a physical home, the University of Louisville announced the creation of a new autism center today. Executive Vice President for Health Sciences Larry Cook says scientific work is already underway at various places in the university system, but announcing the center’s creation will help fundraising efforts."Putting a flag in the ground gives us an opportunity to seek federal funding and state funding, funding from private autism advocacy groups and foundations as well as an opportunity to redouble our philanthropic efforts," he said.Cook won’t say how much money U of L is looking to raise for the center. But – he says – their first goals are the hiring of a medical director and finding a permanent site.
