U of L Approves Increased Oversight

The University of Louisville Board of Trustees approved increased oversight policies Thursday. The board voted to implement recommendations made by the Faculty and Staff Senate. The recommendations include revising the grievance process and investigating managerial practices in the College of Education under former dean Robert Felner.University President James Ramsey has appointed a committee to investigate allegations that Felner helped a student earn a doctorate degree after just one semester of study. Ramsey says the school can’t afford to have its academic policies questioned.“Nothing’s more important than the academic integrity of any university and at the University of Louisville accusations have been made and we’re going to deal with it in a very straightforward, very quick way," he says.Felner is currently under investigation for his alleged mishandling of a federal grant. He resigned from U of L in June to take a job in Wisconsin, but has since withdrawn from that post.
