The University of Louisville football team defeated Southern Mississippi 31-28 Tuesday night to win the Beef O’Brady’s Bowl in St. Petersburg, Florida.The Cards battled back from a 14-0 first quarter deficit to tie the game at 21 at the half. A 36-yard field goal by Chris Philpot with 6:30 left in the game put U of L ahead for good.It was the first bowl appearance for the Cards since 2006. U of L finishes the season with a 7-6 record under first year coach Charlie Strong.
Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
