U of L Requests Audit For Indigent Care Trust After County Attorney's Criticism

University of Louisville President James Ramsey is asking the state auditor’s office to review recent financial reports of the Quality and Charity Care Trust (QCCT) Agreement. The QCCT trust was established in 1983 by local and state governments to oversee the transfer of funds for indigent care for University Medical Center. Recent reports show U of L’s board governing the trust has not met since 2009, despite a state mandate that it must meet twice a year.Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell said it raises concerns about the trust’s operations. The city, county and state provide U of L with over $30 million annually, which the university says is well below the cost of providing indigent care services.Ramsey sent a letter to state auditor Adam Edelen requesting a review to ensure the indigent care funds are being properly used.U of L says the QCCT board will resume meetings soon.
