U Of L To Prepare To Cut Costs

Administrators at the University of Louisville say they have a rough idea of how to meet the governor’s proposed spending cuts.In order to cope with a $456 million shortfall, Governor Steve Beshear has asked all state agencies to reduce spending by 4%. U of L spokesperson John Drees says school administrators haven’t met to discuss cuts yet, but has a rough plan in place for more belt-tightening.“The university is always trying to make sure that it’s on solid ground financially, so we are always looking at all kinds of scenarios," he says.Drees expects administrators to begin considering cuts this week.
