The University of Louisville Athletics Department has rejected Mayor Greg Fischer’s offer to hold a community pep rally before the Final Four game between the Cardinals and the Kentucky Wildcats.

Fischer proposed the rally be held in front of the KFC Yum Center sometime this week after making a friendly wager with Lexington Mayor Jim Gray.

According to the mayor’s office, UofL officials told the city it wanted the players to be focused on the game and worried cheerleaders and band members might miss class.
