U of L's "Take Back The Night" Set For Tuesday

The University of Louisville’s annual “Take Back the Night” event is this week on the Belknap Campus.Organizer Sharon LaRue says “Take Back the Night” was initiated more than two decades ago to raise awareness about violence against women. "We really look at it as a time to tell the truth about what’s happening, a time of empowerment, in other words we’re saying that women have the right to walk at night without any fear. And it’s a night of unity, because we’re marching with men to represent that men and women are working to end violence in our community," she said. The program will include a march, musical performances and speeches, with a keynote address by Marta Miranda, director of the Louisville Center for Women and Families. It begins at 5:30pm tomorrow at U of L.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
