Urban Leaders Group President Praises Louisville Report

The head of a national urban leaders group was in Louisville Thursday to offer support for thelatest "Competitive City" report.It's compiled annually by the Greater Louisville Project and measures the city's progress and room for improvement in the areas of education, jobs and quality of life.Carol Coletta with the group CEOs for Cities spoke at the report's unveiling this morning."I really think you've got it right here in Louisville in shaping your indicator projects in a way that points to these three deep drivers of change, and we could not be any more in alignment with what you've chosen in these deep drivers of change," she told a crowd of about 80 people at the Kentucky International Convention Center.The report says Louisville ranks around the middle of its 14 peer cities in most of the data.The reports was also the topic of Thursday's State of Affairs program, which can be heard online.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
