Urban League's 'Project Ready' To Resume Soon

The Louisville Urban League is preparing to take on another group of young people for its Project Ready program that resumes after the holidays. Kevin Fields is the organization's Director of Youth Education and Development.He says the program is intended for students in grades seven through twelve in Louisville's Smoketown and Shelby Park neighborhoods. "We offer academic enrichment, social skill development, global and cultural awareness, and the ultimate objective is to prepare students for college," he said. Project Ready events are held outside of regular school hours at the Urban League headquarters and Meyzeek Middle School. It operates with funding from the JP Morgan Chase Foundation and the Making Connections Network.Application information is available from the Louisville Urban League.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
