U.S. Ag Secretary Visits Louisville

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack was in Louisville Wednesday to get a firsthand look at how federal stimulus dollars are being used for hunger relief.Vilsack spoke with reporters during a visit to the Dare To Care Food Bank warehouse off Fern Valley Road."People look at the USDA and they think it's about farmers and ranchers, and it clearly is, but two-thirds of our budget is food assistance programs," Vilsack said.Dare To Care officials say demand for assistance is up about 30-percent from a year ago, and funds from the stimulus package will help the organization acquire an additional 250,000 of food the rest of this year.
