Vaccine Drive-Thru Draws Hundreds

The University of Louisville's drive-thru flu shot program began Tuesday morning and has once again drawn hundreds of people.Upon opening on Tuesday at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, the drive-thru drew about one hundred visitors per hour. The program is only for the seasonal flu shot and not H1N1. Director of Infection Control Linda Goss says it's unlikely an H1N1 drive-thru will be established."If it got down to it that we had an availability of vaccine and were able to organize that with the health department or some other entity that was doing that, we would consider as we've done this before. But at this point we would not. It's probably not going to be an option."The H1N1 vaccine arrived in Louisville last week and is being administered to priority patients. More doses are expected to arrive each week. The seasonal vaccine drive-thru will be closed Wednesday and re-open Thursday from 7 AM to 7 PM.
