Ward-Pugh Tapped for National Leadership Position

Louisville Metro Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh, D-9, has been elected vice president of the country’s oldest organization dedicated to supporting female legislators. The National Order of Women Legislators voted Ward-Pugh into the leadership position at a conference this year. Ward-Pugh, who is known to advocate for more women in public office, says she is honored that female lawmakers from across the nation selected her for the position. "I look forward to building relationships with elected women across state lines and including them in the many important programs and initiatives that the National Foundation for Women Legislators offers,” she says. The group noted that Ward-Pugh has made a significant impact in Louisville, specifically citing the revised ethics ordinance and her sponsorship of the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. The non-partisan group encourages the sharing of information and experiences that enabled female leaders to build coalitions. It has provided a forum for female legislators in all levels of government since 1938.
