The West Sixth-Magic Hat Dispute Concludes

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Vermont's Magic Hat brewery says a dispute with a Kentucky brewery over its corporate logo has been resolved. Magic Hat had sued  West  Sixth Brewing for trademark infringement over its logo that has a numeral 6 and a star-like symbol. Magic Hat said it was too much like its No. 9 beer label, which has a 9 and a star-like symbol. The Burlington Free Press reports that West Sixth's co-founder had called the disputean example of a large corporation trying to bully a smaller company. Magic Hat said Thursday in a joint statement with  West  Sixth that the two parties have resolved the issues. Magic Hat, which started in Burlington, was bought by North American Breweries in 2010. Cerveceria Costa Rica bought North American Breweries last year.
