WFPL has been honored with six awards by the Kentucky Associated Press Broadcasters (KAPB), including two first place prizes for news coverage. The awards were presented Saturday night at a KAPB banquet in Louisville. WFPL is judged in the Radio Class 1 Division, covering the Louisville and Lexington markets.1st Place, Best Enterprise/Investigative Reporting, Gabe Bullard, "Suburban Dollars Fund"1st Place, Best Hard News Feature, Rick Howlett, "JCPS Board To Discuss Assignment Plan"2nd Place, Best Political Coverage, Gabe Bullard, "Hawkins Faces Challengers"2nd Place, Best Special Series/Documentary, "Next Louisville"2nd Place, Best Newscast, WFPL Staff2nd Place, Best Website, WFPL StaffKentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeigh, whose work is heard on WFPL and Kentucky's six other public radio stations, was honored with a second place award in the Best Light News Feature category for "End of Road for Bridge." He also received honorable mention awards for Best Use of Sound ("Fancy Farm's Appeal) and Best Political Coverage ("Grayson vs Paul").
