WFPL's Phillip Bailey and Laura Ellis Get National Recognition

Monday night in New York City, WFPL—specifically, reporter Phillip Bailey and producer Laura Ellis—will be nationally recognized with the Radio Television Digital News Association's Unity Award.The award will be handed out during the 2013 Edward R. Murrow Awards, presented to the best in broadcasting. This specific recognition is for coverage of diversity issues—other Unity Award winners this year include ESPN and The Boston Globe.Phillip and Laura won for last year's Defining Fairness series, which explored the issues facing diverse LGBTQ Louisvillians, including race, religion, family, income and the struggles that fall outside the mainstream narrative of gay rights.You'll find the entire Defining Fairness series here.The 2013 Edward R.
