What Can We Learn from the Bugs, Birds and Bees?

The intricate social structure and work divisions within a colony of ants is certainly fascinating (provided the ants haven't used their skills to invade your home). But did you know that ant behavior has inspired computer programs, telephone network systems, and truck routes? Or that the U.S. Army uses a team of robots whose movements are modeled after the way fish swim in schools? This Thursday we'll learn more with Peter Miller, author of "The Smart Swarm: How Understanding Flocks, Schools, and Colonies Can Make Us Better at Communicating, Decision Making, and Getting Things Done."
