Willman Hoping For Full Support Of Overtime Deal

Hundreds of current and retired Louisville firefighters have been voting this week on an agreement over years of underpaid overtime. Their votes could end a years-long dispute with Metro Government and cost the city more than 43 million dollars.Details of the agreement are confidential, but a settlement would reimburse firefighters for hundreds of hours of underpaid overtime, which was the result of a miscalculated payment formula.Voting on the deal concludes this week, but attorneys must also gather votes from firefighters who no longer live in Louisville. Union president Craig Willman says a simple majority would send the deal to the Metro Council for final approval, but he wants to have unanimous support for the settlement."We're looking for 100%," he says. "We feel that we can get that. We feel very confident in our attorneys and ourselves to express to them what this means. And it's gone very well and everyone seems to be happy."A separate group of 135 fighters involved in a pension dispute is not part of the agreement.
