Winter Storm Update: 6am

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning until 7pm tonight.Light snow is falling in the Louisville area at this hour, and we expect periods of snow through the morning and into the mid to late afternoon. Snow will end or taper off to flurries by late afternoon, but light snow may linger through the evening hours across southern Indiana or northern Kentucky.Forecasters predict total snowfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches across central Kentucky and southern Indiana... with locally higher amounts of around 5 inches possible. In the Louisville area, we're expecting around 3 inches of snow. With temperatures remaining well below freezing, the snow will stick on roads and other surfaces, and we expect road conditions to deteriorate. In addition, northwest winds of 15-25 mph will bring blowing and drifting snow that may reduce visibilities. Wind chill readings will likely fall to between 0 and 10 above during the evening and overnight hours.NWS Winter Storm Warning
