Winter Storm Warning for Snow, Ice Tonight

A mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is likely in the Louisville metro later today. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 4pm today through 1pm on Thursday. Forecasters predict light snow will begin this afternoon, changing over to a mixture of sleet and eventually freezing rain late tonight and early tomorrow morning. We could see up to one quarter of an inch of freezing rain with higher amounts possible. Sleet and snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches will also be possible before the onset of freezing rain. The resulting ice/sleet/snow mixture will cause dangerous travel conditions. The ice might also coat power lines, trees, and other surfaces.Forecasters will update their predictions throughout the day.
