Woolridge Returns After Extended Hiatus

Louisville Metro Councilwoman Mary Woolridge, D-3, attended her first meeting in four months on Thursday after taking an extended leave of absence due to an undisclosed medical condition.Earlier this week, WFPL reported on the city lawmaker's lengthy hiatus, which had been instructed by her physician after she was briefly hospitalized.Woolridge had missed a quarter of council meetings and a number of committee assignments, however, records show she sponsored over a dozen ordinances during her leave, including appropriations from her Neighborhood Development Fund to area projects such as a grant to provide children with proper identification to use city run swimming pools.Council rules say a member only has to inform the council president or clerk’s office about the need to miss scheduled meetings and those absences have no set limit and little information about a lawmaker’s excused absences are tracked by Metro Government.
