Yarmuth: Arizona Shooting "Unthinkable"

Congressman John Yarmuth of Louisville says Saturday's deadly shooting spree at a congressional constituents' event in Arizona was an "attack on democracy."The rampage that killed six people also critically injured Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head. At a Saturday afternoon press conference in Louisville, an emotional Yarmuth called Gifford a close friend--both were elected to Congress in 2006."We spent countless hours in meetings, socially, and the idea that anyone would bear any ill will toward her is unthinkable," he said.Yarmuth says the incident will force him and his fellow lawmakers to be more safety-conscious."I'm not going to stop my routine in this community, but the way we conduct public events and the way we advertise them, we'll certainly review.  And I think every member of Congress will do that and I would think the Capitol Police would advise us to" Yarmuth said.Legislation in the House scheduled for next week has been suspended in the wake of the shootings.
