Yarmuth Credits Federal Investments for Refurbished Ford Plant

U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, D-Ky., is crediting investments from the federal government for the Ford Motor Co.'s refurbished Louisville Assembly Plant.Several public officials attended the unveiling Wednesday, to celebrate the retooled factory where Ford makes the Escape compact SUV. The congressman the automaker's ingenuity, but highlighted the $5.9 billion in incentives Ford received from the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program in 2009.From Yarmuth's office: "I was proud to support federal investments that helped Ford retool the Louisville Assembly Plant, and I am thrilled to see the results today. In less than three years, we went from being behind the curve to beating the curve – and we’re using American labor and ingenuity to do it. The Louisville workforce, Ford, and government partners have shown just how successful we can be, working together to build the vehicles of the future and the innovations that keep our city – and our country – on the leading edge of manufacturing."The loan program was aimed at helping U.S. auto companies produce more fuel efficient cars.
