Yarmuth Files For Re-Election; Sodrel To Run Again In Indiana

Congressman John Yarmuth of Louisville has filed candidacy papers to seek a third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Yarmuth, a Democrat, was first elected to the Third District seat in 2006, defeating five-term Republican incumbent Anne Northup. He also defeated Northup in their 2008 rematch.Yarmuth says he's eager to defend his record, especially the votes he cast over the past year."I am just chomping at the bit to make the case that this Democratic Congress---and administration--- has actually saved this country from an economic collapse," he said. "We did a lot of thing that we wouldn't ordinarily do because of the emergency situation we were in."Yarmuth has no opposition thus far within his party, but at least three Republicans are expected to enter the GOP primary for the seat.In southern Indiana, Republican Mike Sodrel has said he'll make another run for his former Ninth District seat now held by Democrat Baron Hill.
