Yarmuth: Final Health Bill Unlikely Until Early 2010

Congressman John Yarmuth of Louisville predicts that his counterparts in the U.S. Senate will pass their version of a health care overhaul bill before the end of the year. The Third District Democrat says it will probably be early 2010 before the two bills can be reconciled in a conference committee."I think it will be primarily different from the house bill in the manner of funding, and I think that's going to be the biggest point of contention between the House and the Senate, ultimately," Yarmuth said Monday.Yarmuth was the only member of Kentucky's House delegation to vote in favor of the Democratic-sponsored bill, which was narrowly approved Saturday night.President Obama is pressing the House and Senate to come to agreement on a plan before the end of the year.
