Zipcar Rental Service Available In Louisville

Michael Clemens

A new self-serve rental car service that’s been available in several large cities is coming to Louisville.

Mayor Greg Fischer has announced that Zipcar will allow members to reserve a Mazda 6 and a Mazda 3—they've been named Jesica and Metlock, respectively—that will be located at the Brown Hotel.

To be a member, drivers must pay a small fee starting at $6 and install a phone app that will then allow users to reserve the vehicles. Rates start at $9 an hour. The cars can be rented by the day for $69.

Zipcar memberships are transferable to other cities and areas where the program exists.

Drivers must be at least 21. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
