Western Kentucky Falls to Baylor in Women’s NCAA Tournament

In their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2008, the Western Kentucky Lady Toppers lost Saturday to the Baylor Bears.

Western Kentucky end the season with a 24-9 record that included a Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship. It was the second season for head coach Michelle Clark-Heard, a former Western Kentucky player and Louisville Cardinals assistant coach.

Junior forward Chastity Gooch led Western Kentucky with 23 points, but two Baylor players—Nina Davis and Odyssey Sims—scored just over 30. Baylor won 87-74.

Baylor coach Kim Mulkey sat out the game because of a one-game suspension issued last year after she criticized officials following the Bear’s loss in the 2013 NCAA Tournament to Louisville.
